62-year-old Mohammad Fayyaz who lives in rural Tharparkar, Sindh, Pakistan. Mohammad Fayyaz has a family of 5 daughters, the youngest aged 11, and a 6-year-old son. Every day, each of his daughters would take it in turns to fetch water for the family from a pond far away from their village.

“I used to wake up very early to go to the pond to fetch water, only to discover that the herdsmen were also there. Most of the time they harassed us and I had to run and shout for help”, said Shazia, Fayyaz’s 13-year-old daughter.

Mohammad Fayyaz and his family’s story was the same as 200 other people living in his village. With the support of our generous donors we were able to install a hand pump, Alhamdulillah.

Over the auspicious month of Ramadan, please remember Mohammad Fayyaz’s daughters, and the millions of girls risking their safety by collecting drinking water in your prayers. With your continued support and sadaqah we can help provide them access to clean water so they can instead go to school, earning a living and spend time with their families.
